UMA PARTE DAS TERRAS FICA EM QUERÊNCIA E RIBEIRÃO CASCALHEIRA PELA BR 158. O valor do arrendamento não foi revelado, mas o pagamento deve ser feito em produto soja em grão. O grupo carioca MPE vai deixar de plantar em Mato Grosso, onde produz soja, milho e algodão, a partir da safra 2009/10. O grupo, com atuação nas áreas de engenharia e agronegócio, tem 100 mil hectares no Estado dedicados à agricultura e pecuária, com exceção das áreas de reservas florestais. Desse total, 30 mil hectares estão sendo arrendados por um período de dez anos ao grupo Bom Futuro, controlado pela família Maggi Scheffer. Eraí Maggi Scheffer e seus irmãos, sócios da empresa, são primos do governador de Mato Grosso, Blairo Maggi. O arrendamento ao grupo Bom Futuro foi fechado pela Agromon Agricultura e Pecuária, empresa controlada pela holding do grupo MPE dedicada ao agronegócio, a MPE Participações em Agronegócios A Agromon produz soja, milho e algodão em Mato Grosso e também responde pela criação de gado bovino no Estado e no norte fluminense. Ao todo, a empresa tem 25 mil cabeças de gado, de base nelore e red angus – 20 mil em Mato Grosso e 5 mil em Campos dos Goytacazes RJ. A pecuária, desenvolvida no ciclo completo cria, recria e engorda, será mantida. A saída do MPE da agricultura se insere na reestruturação do agronegócio dentro do grupo, movimento iniciado há cerca de três anos. Nos dois últimos exercícios contábeis 2007 e 2008 a holding do grupo na área de agronegócio amargou prejuízos de R$ 4,47 milhões e de R$ 10,2 milhões, respectivamente. O aluguel das terras ao Bom Futuro deverá ajudar a reduzir a dívida do MPE no agronegócio, que somou R$ 170,2 milhões em 2008. O valor inclui dívidas bancárias e junto a fornecedores a curto e longo prazos acima de um ano. Conforme relatório publicado pela empresa na divulgação do resultado de 2008, auditado pela empresa BKR, os ganhos de produtividade obtidos nos plantios de soja, milho e algodão não se refletiram no resultado final em função do agravamento da crise no último trimestre de 2008. A crise fez com que os preços das commodities retornassem aos patamares de 2007, diz a empresa no relatório. Renato Ribeiro Abreu, diretor-presidente do grupo MPE, disse que, em agosto do ano passado, a empresa comprou adubo a US$ por tonelada com o câmbio na faixa de R$ 1,60 por dólar para pagamento cinco meses depois. Na data da liquidação, a taxa de câmbio estava a R$ 2,03. “Hoje o tipo de adubo que compramos situa-se em cerca de US$ 500 por tonelada”, diz. Nos últimos anos, o grupo MPE teve de transferir receitas da engenharia para repassar ao agronegócio. Abreu disse que o arrendamento ao Bom Futuro faz parte de uma reorganização interna para focar o grupo na sua principal atividade, a engenharia, com preservação do patrimônio e garantia de rentabilidade nos negócios. Abreu disse que a opção pelo arrendamento, e não pela venda das terras, foi uma forma de manter o patrimônio. Mas ele também ressaltou que os preços da terra caíram muito. São duas áreas arrendadas ao Bom Futuro em Mato Grosso. Uma fica nos municípios de Diamantino e São José, nas proximidades da BR-163. A outra se estende pelos municípios de Querência e Ribeirão Cascalheira, nas imediações da BR-158. O valor do arrendamento não foi revelado, mas o pagamento deve ser feito em produto soja em grão. Na safra 2008/09, a área plantada pelo grupo foi da ordem de 290 mil hectares, segundo as informações do site. Desse total, 62% foram ocupadas com soja, 19% com milho, 18% com algodão e o restante de feijão e arroz. Há também projetos de reflorestamento e recuperação de áreas degradadas. Já a Agromon Agricultura e Pecuária, do MPE, produziu 2 milhões de sacas de soja e 18 mil toneladas de algodão em pluma no ciclo 2008/09. A reestruturação das atividades agropecuárias do MPE teve um capítulo importante no início de 2008 quando o grupo vendeu para a Marfrig 100% do controle da Carroll’s Food do Brasil, dona de granjas de suínos e de uma fábrica de ração no Mato Grosso. A empresa também detinha participação acionária no frigorífico Intercoop, uma cooperativa de Nova Mutum MT. À época, foi anunciado que o valor do negócio era de R$ 42,26 milhões. Outro negócio do qual o grupo MPE busca desinvestir é o de sucos prontos para beber, segmento no qual atua com a marca Sumol e no qual é dono da empresa Brassumo, com fábrica em Campos dos Goytacazes. Além da pecuária, o MPE vai manter a produção de camarões, em Valença BA, por meio da Valença da Bahia Maricultura, outra das empresas do grupo. Ade told The Jakarta Post that he had never thought about how his life would have been if he had stuck with badminton. “I failed at badminton,” he said matter-of-factly. “If I could have been a champion, I would have probably stayed.” Ade said he was grateful that fate had steered him toward bodybuilding. “Bodybuilding has given me only good things – nothing else,” he said. Arm wrestling past Ade didn’t choose bodybuilding at random. In his senior high school years, his friends would hold friendly arm wrestling competitions. This inspired him to work on his muscles, to get a competitive edge. An acquaintance who was a trainer told him that he had what it would take to be a professional bodybuilder. Ade Rai won his first national bodybuilding championship in 1994 at the age of 24. It didn’t come easily. As a teenager, 183-cm-tall Ade Rai weighed only 55 kilograms. He slowly built his figure through dedication. Vowing never to use steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs, Ade Rai taught himself to be a natural bodybuilder. He studied the right ways to eat, sleep and train for the sport. Starting strong Ade Rai won his first national bodybuilding championship in 1984 at the age of 24. He also won Musclemania World USA in 1996, one of the world’s most prestigious drug-free bodybuilding competitions at the time. Winning the gold medal for Indonesia at the 1997 Southeast Asian Games in Jakarta was another memorable achievement. In 2000, his last year as a professional athlete, Ade Rai won Superbody World Championship USA as well as a second Musclemania World title. Healthy lifestyle advocate Ade’s anti-drug stance is a central part of his image. “[Normalizing performance-enhancing drugs] is like saying that it’s okay for a top politician to indulge in corruption. No matter who you are, corruption is a big no,” he said. He said anyone who used shortcuts to sculpt their body had forgotten the meaning of the sport and that the consequences of abusing drugs were simply not worth it. Ade estimated that 90 percent of bodybuilders in Indonesia, both amateur and professional, used performance-enhancing drugs. “I don’t care whether someone is a professional bodybuilder or not. In 2006, he established the RAI Institute, which focuses on training fitness professionals for certification. “One of my aspirations is to educate people about healthy lifestyles,” he said. For a time in 2012, Ade was a columnist for The Jakarta Post. He answered readers’ questions about health, training and nutrition. In 2020, he attracted public attention by helping 13-year-old Arya Permana lose 110 kg in three years by supervising his training. Arya, once dubbed Indonesia’s fattest kid, weighed 193 kg at one point. He lost the weight after dieting, engaging in strict training regimens and undergoing medical procedures and plastic surgery. Ade reached out to Arya’s family in 2016 out of concern for the teenager’s situation. The bodybuilder regularly uploaded pictures and videos of himself training with Arya. Ade said Arya’s success was mostly the result of the teenager’s good attitude and determination, as well as support from his family. In an era of social media fitness influencers, Ade remains a mainstay. On YouTube, where Ade is committed to never asking viewers to “like” his videos or subscribe to his channel, he has 116,000 subscribers – even though he last uploaded a video 4 years ago.
